These guidelines are
suggestions only. Please feel free to add additional information to your
review. It is also not necessary to cover every one of the points below
in your review. Select the ones that apply in some significant way to
the work you are reviewing. ·
Please be sure to put the
author(s), date, publisher, page count, format, ISBN, and price after
the title. ·
If the item to be reviewed
is nonprint (database, software, audiotape), read the publisher's user
guidelines. Are the instructions clear? ·
If the item is a book, read
the preface, foreword or introduction. Does the work meet its stated
goal? Be sure to read the table of contents. Be aware of organization
and writing style; comment on these if they are significant to your
overall opinion of the work. What suggestions do you have to make this a
better work? ·
Who is the intended
audience? A general comment lets our readers know if the work is aimed
at their users. ·
Comment on the format if it
is significant and enhances the value of the work. It is generally
helpful to our readers if you mention research aides such as indexes,
bibliographies, charts and tables, checklists, and computer disks, if
provided. ·
Compare the work to a
similar one; does it add anything that existing works do not have? Are
there any unusual organizational features that make it easier to use?
Will the work be kept current? Are there plans to supplement it? ·
Does the author have any
special qualifications or experience to make him/her an authoritative
author in this field? ·
What is the reputation of
the publisher? Is the publisher known for publications in this field? ·
For what types of libraries
would you recommend this title? How or why would business/legal
researchers use this book? ·
Please do not add headlines
or use an outline format; keep it a straight narrative. Do
not recite the contents chapter by chapter! ·
Submit your review in Word
format if possible. A copy on disk is also acceptable, but we cannot
send the disk back to you. ·
