| Service is the theme for this second edition of the Spirit of Law Librarianship. Here, law librarians describe and analyze the profession of law librarianship and show how law librarians' skills can be used to provide service to the law library profession, to the community, to academic institutions, and to the public.
The book also celebrates the "Spirit of Law Librarianship Award", which was established by compilers Roy M. Mersky and Richard A. Leiter, following the publication of the first edition in 1991.
Following Mr. Mersky's death in 2008, the award has been renamed the "Mersky Spirit of Law Librarianship Award". The award is made at the Annual Meeting of the American Association of Law Libraries.
